A monstrous paddle one year in the making.

The Story

One year ago, our cofounder Kasey Randall was enjoying The Austin Studio Tour and he just so happen to be passing through the studio of GRZ Monsters with all this beautifully showcasd monsters art.

He said, "that would look great on a paddle." So we put it on one.

Over the last year we collaborated closely with Gerardo and his team to celebrate the incredible artistry and capture the uniqueness of his Monsters art well known around Austin and beyond.

We are over the moon to unveil our newest paddle, and just in time for this year's Austin Studio Tour! (If you're around, be sure to stop in, say, and check out the paddle in person.)

About the artist

Gerardo Rodriguez

Gerardo was born and raised in Puerto Rico and moved to the States to study film and graphic design at American University. Before turning to visual art full time, Gerardo worked in photography and film, helping his team earn two Emmys for a documentary and a TV series. He moved to Austin in 2013 and began illustrating and painting more… and the #monstersinaustin movement began!

ABOUT THE ART

"Skull Head of Big Bend"

"This design was inspired by my love for nature, especially the desert and West Texas. My hope is that through the art-- and the added twist of the monsters!-- others feel the call to explore, play in, and be inspired by the wonders of the natural world around us."
